This place is a jewel ? Vy and family are great. Her private tour is excellent but you have to be able to walk? The location is in district 1? The centre.vibrant and busy ! Not for the faint hearted but a first class location if you want to see the real Vietnam. A perfect location for a real traveller. Tony k.
Excellent family run place. Host Vy speaks superb English and gives you a map with loads of local intel on food, transport, activities. Room is basic but clean and comfy. Location great, close to eateries. Quiet at night despite being close to Walking Street. Highly recommend for the price, felt safe and friendly.
Unlike most, my experience at this guesthouse was far from satisfactory, and at times was uncomfortable and outrageous. Although the price is nothing to complain about, that doesnt mean the air con unit should be so dirty that you gain a whooping dry cough. I’m sure this could be fixed with a simple thorough clean. No major problems were found with the room itself, but our experience with the staff was invasive and uncomfortable. I woke up to a message claiming we had our tap on all night, to which I checked straight away, and that was not the case. She then confronted my boyfriend in an unreasonable and pushing manner, saying we should ‘do better’ and that other guests had complained about the lack of water, and we had no idea how this was our fault as no taps or showers were running when we woke up. The strangest part was when she showed a video of the outside of our room and the faint sound of running water in the background (still, not a clue why, must be a bigger maintenance issue) and what’s more is she then said she almost got her husband to go into our room at 4am to inspect while we were asleep. This comment was the icing on the cake, as it is completely invasive and unreasonable. She then said to my boyfriend, that her husband was about to come into our room at 7, but it magically stopped (we woke up at 7:30 so it was a problem completely unrelated to us) after this whole situation, we left two nights early due to feeling so invaded and uncomfortable.
Great location - don't be put off by the alley location as the main street is just around the corner. It's just out of the way enough that you don't hear too much noise at night despite Walking Street being just around the corner. Ms Vy is a wonderful host and took the time to send us maps of local spots to hit and was very accomodating. The rooms are small but feel cosy and it's nice to have your own small bathroom. There is a 7/11, McDonald's, coffee shop just outside which is great if you fancy a snack or need something late at night. Would recommend if you're a backpacker who just needs a place to spend the night that has Aircon, a TV, fridge and a bathroom.
Good experience. Good location. Very cheap price per night, and the room was very clean. Ms. Vy was very kind and accommodating. Every time we visit Ho Chi Minh, we stay in her hotel.
